Dr. Heather Lacey

Dr. Lacey knew she wanted to become a veterinarian from a very young age. Growing up on a sheep farm in Bruce County, she had a love of animals very early on, one that was fostered in part by her father, also a veterinarian. In fact, Dr. Lacey’s first job was cleaning kennels on the weekends at the local small animal clinic, where she was able to see what it was like to operate a successful veterinary service in the community.

After several years and countless hours of study, Dr. Lacey proudly graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2007. Her veterinary career began shortly after, at a small but thriving practice in Port Elgin where she worked for five years before moving with her young family to the city of Barrie. Over the next nine years, Dr. Lacey’s work at Aldergrove Animal Clinic would create many lasting bonds of friendship, both among her colleagues and her clients.

As a resident of Oro-Medonte for the past six years, Dr. Lacey couldn’t be more excited for the chance to serve her community at Horseshoe Valley Veterinary Hospital. “I enjoy getting to know my clients and patients, and working with them so they can make the best possible decisions to help their pets live happy, healthy lives,” says Dr. Lacey.

Forever grateful to the community for their support, Dr. Lacey is looking forward to many years of providing exemplary veterinary services for her clients and patients, just as she always dreamed she would.

When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll find Dr. Lacey spending time with her husband and two children, playing hockey and enjoying time with family and friends.

Dr. Holly Spring

Dr. Holly Spring grew up on her family’s dairy farm in Elmvale, Ontario. Growing up in the area, she can’t be more excited to be practicing in the communities that she knows and loves.

Dr. Spring graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2011, and has been working in the area since. Her special interests include dermatology, chronic pain management, and senior feline medicine.

When she is not practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Spring can be found at the gym or spending time with her friends and family. She is the proud cat mom of Tina and Wally, an entitled Boston Terrier named Maude, and a derpy mini Dachshund named Doris.

Dr. Spring can’t wait to meet her new clients at Horseshoe Valley Veterinary Hospital and create long lasting bonds with the community.

Dr. Cameron Lindsay

Dr. Lindsay grew up in Barrie, Ontario and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2008. He has been practicing companion animal medicine in Simcoe County ever since.

His special interests include dental surgery, internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and parasitology. When he is not practicing veterinary medicine, he can be found enjoying a variety of outdoor activities or relaxing at home with his Boston Terrier, Maude and his new not so little puppy Jerry!

Dr. Candice Hibbs

If you ask Dr. Hibbs’ family, they knew she was destined to be a veterinarian early on in life. Animals would follow her around, and she loved them right back! Dr. Hibbs, however, remembers wanting to be a kindergarten teacher and it wasn’t until visiting the veterinary clinic with their new family puppy, Dakota, that becoming a veterinarian came to light for her. Contemplating these career choices, she completed a co-operative education course at Aldergrove Animal Clinic in high school. Dr. Hibbs quickly learned that the veterinary profession was for her, and couldn’t be happier with her career choice.

Dr. Hibbs grew up in Barrie, Ontario. She graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2010. Since then, Dr. Hibbs has been practicing veterinary medicine in Simcoe County. Dr. Hibbs has special interest in surgery, preventative medicine including proper weight management and chronic pain/quality of life management in our senior pets. She particularly loves the bonds she is able to develop with each pet and their humans. She is thrilled to be joining the team at the Horseshoe Valley Veterinary Hospital!

When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll find Dr. Hibbs spending time with her partner, Ryan, step-daughter Aurora, and her furry family members: Finley, Callie, Colonel Jack, Super Charlie and their hamster Prince Rascal Flufferbutt.  Dr. Hibbs loves being crafty. She loves knitting, making party decorations, and homemade surprises for her friends and family. She also enjoys reading, gardening, all plants, and spending time outdoors with her family, furry family members and friends.

Justine - Registered Veterinary Technician

Justine grew up in Fort Erie, Ontario.  After completing an undergraduate degree in Peterborough, she took a different direction to pursue small animal care and wildlife rehabilitation.  She graduated from Northern College in 2015 with her veterinary technician and wildlife rehabilitation diplomas.

Initially she had wanted to work with wildlife and had spent a month volunteering on a wildlife rehab reserve in South Africa.  She fell in love with taking care of the rhinos, lions and a baby hippo.

Justine has worked in small animal medicine for 6 years and has grown to love working with dogs and cats.

Her interests lie in dog behaviour and senior health management.

In her spare time she enjoys watching football and baseball, baking and spending time with her three fur kids. She has a brindle mutt named Nova and two cats named Hamlet and Tux.

Erin - Registered Veterinary Technician

Although Erin hails from the snowy tundra of Thunder Bay, she has always been a nomad at heart and spent her younger twenties traveling around the United Kingdom, India, and Morocco. She put her travels on pause to get her Diploma of Photojournalism then moved to Toronto where she entered the corporate grind for too many years.

Her passion for animals kept whispering to her at night so she quit her career and moved to Orillia to attend Georgian College’s Veterinary Technician program. She graduated with Honours in 2015 and has been immersed in the vet tech life ever since.

She comes to us from the Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic where she realized her interests lie on the inner workings of pets. Her years at a busy emergency clinic allowed her to hone her skills with ultrasound and critical care cases. They also highlighted her love of scruffy, wire-haired, slightly clingy pets.

Erin has managed to return to her travels but now focuses on wildlife adventures. She most recently visited the Galapagos islands and the Antarctic peninsula. When not seeing the world, she enjoys spending time with her two rescue maniacs: Oliver, a Mexican Hairless mix and Mickey, a trembling bag of anxiety from Thailand. She also gets serenaded by her tiny parrotlet, Tyler. And when not doing any of those things, you can find her at the gym trying to get buff.

Emma - Veterinary Assistant

Emma grew up just north of Barrie in Dalston, Ontario and has been passionate about all animals since an early age. As a child Emma enjoyed horseback riding and spending time with her menagerie of pets – including mice, guinea pigs, budgies, cats, a dog and newt. In 2014 she graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design University with a major in photography. She enjoys photographing horses and pets of all sizes. Upon graduation Emma started working as a photographer and in the veterinary field as a receptionist and vet assistant. Since starting in the veterinary field her love for caring for pets has continued to grow. Her special interests include small animal husbandry and companion animal behaviour. When Emma isn’t at work, she enjoys spending time with her chickens, border collie “Piper”, guinea pig “Cashew” and cat “Fern”.
